Text Box: Larry Johns, author of The Island Gang, Legend of Crystal Cove, has developed a motivational presentation for schools that encourages goal setting, maintaining core values, and strengthening character. These concepts are effectively taught through "life happenings" of The Island Gang, as they pursue clues to the Legend of Crystal Cove.

In the presentation Larry draws on his own victory of overcoming stuttering, shares the story of teenage brothers who battled cancer and why their experience prompted him to begin writing, and pulls the presentation together with pictures and excerpts from Legend of Crystal Cove. This is an interactive presentation that leaves children feeling confident in what they can accomplish.

Read what educators are saying:
"Our students truly enjoyed the opportunity to meet a real author! They will also benefit from his message of goal setting and character development. These themes go hand in hand with our school’s focus for the 2006-2007 school year," Odessa Hargrave, Reading & Leadership, Gray MS, Tacoma, WA

"Mr. Johns’ Power Point and verbal presentation was engaging, informative for students living in the Puget Sound area as they could relate to the land and water features near Kopachuck State Park, and included enough interactive and age appropriate information to pique their interest in his fictional novel, The Island Gang," Connie West, Principal, Harbor Ridge MS, Gig Harbor, WA

"Thank you for taking the time to visit our school. Your presentation was exactly what we are looking for our children. Pep talks on maintaining values and defending character are vital messages that children need more exposure to. Your message of SMART goals will be repeated with students and staff," Kim Frank, Executive Director,
UAPCS, Pleasant Grove, UT
