In the early 1470’s fifteen ninety-five foot wooden longboats departed the northern Scottish mainland, a small island in the Pentland Firth, and many of the Southern Orkney Islands to find new lands to raise their families in. The journey was sanctioned by the beloved King Agar and the craftsman/metallurgist Gamelin. The departing clans were desirous of being detached from the rampaging Baaldurian’s. These were a wicked Viking tribe separated from the original Northern Nation by their choice to follow the bloody antediluvian witchcrafts instead of Jesus Christ. Now . . . five hundred and forty-two years later, another voyage is about to begin. Dr. Gabriel Proudmore and the crew of the computerized schooner Heimdall will be departing Aberdeen Scotland on an adventure of profound scope and danger. Their mission: to retrace the first Viking voyage, no matter where it takes them, or what they may encounter, on a quest to find the only remaining clan of Rognvald Vikings and present them with the greatest symbol of Viking faith in the Holy Risen Christ ever made . . . the Tempest.

      Richard lives in La Mesa California with his wife Michele and their daughter Crista. They also have two sons, Garrett and Sean, and one grandson. Richard and his wife are avid adventurers and hikers. He works as an Engineering Superintendent with SDCC and also as an Author and Poet.  He was a professional musician for fifteen years and has two CD’s to his credit. “What Love Has Done” and “The Path.” Richard is also a carpenter and a collector of books.    The call to write the MONUMENTAL JOURNEY series came on a beautiful Sunday in April 2003. Richard and Michele were hiking Middle Peak in the rugged Cuyamaca Mountains on one of their weekly adventures to find the portal that would prove or disprove the existence of the Viking Valhalla. So far they had been unsuccessful! While singing praises to the Most High, and with their hearts pounding from exertion, inspiration suddenly exploded around them in the form of indescribable joy and laughter. Because the ideas for many characters and unique content began flooding into them, Richard and his wife recorded both sides of their portable tape player with what was being given them. Along with daily prayer, a superfluity of butterflies, nagging uncertainty, new voices taunting him, on-going and diligent research, and a Gateway laptop,

Richard began his most exciting and daunting journey ever. In the genre of Adventure/Mystery/Historical fiction, he purposed to write a sweeping six novel series about the computerized schooner Heimdall and her Christian crew, replete with allegorical depictions of the types of enemies and on-going spiritual warfare believers face daily. There was no promise of success in this endeavor, and no promise of even one person caring. All Richard had was the burning desire to pursue the gift God had given him and minister to it with all his might. Since then he has published one novel a year. He has also woven his unique and powerful poetry into the personality and expressions of the protagonist, and has used the exquisite photography and illustrations of his wife Michele to enhance the storyline. Richard is currently writing his fourth in the Monumental Journey series. Ghost Warriors is due out early 2007.
