“FINALLY”
is a collection of
inspirational poems, articles and sayings that reflect the author’s
life’s journey including her struggles, challenges and triumphs. The
purpose of the book is to encourage the reader to overcome difficulties
and to motivate and inspire readers to reach their goals.
Rolanda T. Pyle is a
certified social worker and is the Associate Director of the Relatives
as Parents Program (RAPP) at the Brookdale Foundation. She was the
former Director of the New York City Department for the Aging’s
Grandparent Resource Center for 10 years.. She has received numerous
awards for her work with grandparents raising grandchildren including
the 2004 Sloan Public Service Award and HBO’s 2004 Beah Richards Spirit
Award. The New York Daily News named her one of the “100 Women Who
Shape Our City” in April 2004.
She has won awards for her
poetry and short stories and has been published in religious and
community newspapers and professional journals. She is a contributor to
several anthologies and the coauthor of the chapter, “Support Groups in
the Lives of Grandmothers Raising Grandchildren” in the book “To
Grandmother’s House We Go and Stay.”
She is an active member of
Love Fellowship Church in Brooklyn, NY where she serves in several
ministries.
Rolanda is currently
compiling a devotional for people who are going through a difficult
time. The projected release date is January 2008.
