Most of us experience some sadness or tragedy in our lives. Jo Franz understands others’ hurts because she’s experienced many herself. Just when life bloomed full of promise strange symptoms resulted in a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. Then Jo’s husband, a pastor, began an affair with a teenager and divorced Jo. When she remarried, she found herself with an emotionally and verbally abusive second husband. But through it all, Jo searched to understand God’s outlook on her struggles and to trust him with her life. If you deal with anxiety, illness, or trauma, unhealthy choices or relationships, Jo’s story will encourage you to live fearlessly.
Soar Unafraid: Learning to Trust No Matter What inspires because with each new ordeal, Jo learns to see herself realistically, rely on God’s truth, and seek to be Christlike. Joy permeates her life as she finds her purpose in God. Her story is one of healed relationships as she and her second husband learn to defuse anger, communicate clearly, and develop a bonded marriage. And that's not all Jo deals with while learning to praise God in all things and develop a heart of thanks! Whether one just loves to be inspired by true-life stories of overcomers, or they live with illness, infertility, depression, parenting stress, unhappy family situations, or life-threatening trauma, Jo illustrates how to Soar Unafraid.
Jo says, “Soar Unafraid was written because audiences have requested my story in book form for years.”
Jo Franz, author, national speaker and seminar leader, songwriter and recording artist, attended the University of Colorado with a voice scholarship while singing in nightclubs and bars with a band. She became a Christian after hearing at a 5th Dimension concert how to know Christ personally. She speaks and sings across the US and Sweden, leading retreat seminars and speaking for large conferences, banquets, church services and Stonecroft outreach events. Jo enjoys being a peer counselor as well as inspirational spokesperson at fundraising events for the National MS Society, and a portion of all Soar Unafraid sales will be donated to them. She has stories in a number of compilation books. Jo does all this in the strength of the Lord and loves telling her “praying friends” how the Spirit worked through her.
Jo grew up in Colorado, hiking, camping, jeeping, and backpacking in the Rockies. When MS no longer allowed her to hike, she horse-packed into the backcountry.
She learned to ski as a disabled person. She and her husband, Ray, rode their tandem in five MS bike tours. They live in southwestern Washington, just north of Portland, and love a life of adventure—jeeping, wildlife-viewing, and traveling. They have three daughters and three grandchildren.
